Biodiversity

At Suircan, we believe that trees and biodiversity are a key contributor to wellbeing and to the enhancement of our public spaces. We are also very aware of all the related benefits of tree cover, from water retention, soil health, carbon capture and heat reduction. Because of this, tree planting and advocating for the retention of our valuable town trees, remains a key pledge and concern for all our members with regular tree care sessions and inspection, seed collections, and where appropriate, occasional plantings.

Our work in this fields divide into four main areas:
- pocket forest and tree planting/ maintenance
- linear orchards
- town trees and SUDS championing
- natural heritage and biodiversity awareness
