Our pocket forest project stems from a visit by Catherine Cleary in 2022 during which we identified a suitable site along the Greenane Greenway. This was cleared and planted in March 2023 with a selection of native saplings and bushes. This includes oak, hazel, blackthorn, hawthorn, spindle, cherry and crabapple. Through discreet signage, the project provides biodiversity awareness and enhances soil retention in the proximity of the Suir river as well as habitat for wildlife and public amenity enhancement.
