River Suir

At 185km the Suir is the third longest river in Ireland and consists of a significant number of tributaries including the Anner, Multeen, Clodiagh, Ara, Nier, Aherlow and many others. While the main body of the river is primarily located in Co. Tipperary it also flows though Waterford and Kilkenny.Ecologically speaking the Suir is in reasonable health but is under pressure in a number of areas (for more details see links to EPA report below). A number of once common fish (and other) species are becoming rarer on the river. To that end SuirCan has been instrumental in a number of projects to assist with managing and understanding the River Suir and as our name suggests its health is of concern to us.
