Since the early days before Clonmel Applefest was founded in 2018, two Suircan members initiated the linear orchards project along the river Suir. Starting with 8 trees at the Convent bridge and 8 at Denis Burke Park in 2017, the project has since then, planted more than 280 apple trees in several clusters along the Greenane riverside walk and in five other locations along the river: three at the Galloping Fields (below Davis road’s Dunnes stores), Loreto park near the gashouse bridge and 2 locations in Denis Burke Park. All the trees are dedicated to a person for which family members made a contribution and it is a wonderful sight to see the tree flower and fruit through the seasons.
